I've reviewed copies of the newspaper, available on micro film, for any mention of either the RAF Station or individuals.

Unfortunately there are no issues available from 1958 to 1971 inclusive. The date shown is the publication date of the newspaper.

10 June 1939 The first mention in the newspaper of a new local RAF Station. The Reporter comments on various rumours he has heard;
1) The camp will be about half the size of RAF Cosford.
2) That it may cost £300,000.
3) There will be 2,000 Trainees.
4) That the establishment will last at least five years.
1 July 1939 Mention that the new RAF Station will need 100,000 gallons of water per day by October.
  No further mention of the Station made this year.

          1940
2 Mar 1940 Last Friday, a RAF aeroplane made a forced landing in a ploughed field at Stanmore. Neither the pilot nor aeroplane sustained much damage.
