Thanks to Fred Furness, 2420017, for this photograph of
Hut 2/48, 19 Flt, 'E' Sqd, 3 Wing taken on Sunday 13th February 1949.

Fred says "I only recall the names of Murdoch McPherson 2nd from the left back row, Paul Albrecht 2nd from the right front row, I (Fred Furness) am sitting 1st from right front row. 2nd from the left in middle row is an Airman called Templeton from Glasgow. The two Airmen either side of the Corporal in the front row were twins from Leicester. The Airman 1st from the left back row came from Sunderland.
My first day in the R.A.F. was 17th January 1949 when I went to R.A.F. Padgate with a school pal Leonard Parker, we had a medical and were issued with our uniforms while there. Leonard Parker was sent home when it was found he had a perforated ear-drum.
On 25th January 1949 I was transferred to R.A.F. Bridgnorth to start basic training, my last day at R.A.F. Bridgnorth was 22nd March 1949, leaving for home after Passing Out Parade.
On 30th March 1949 I was posted to R.A.F. Comton Bassett for trade training as a telephonist."
