Picture from February 1955

Thanks to Ray Orgill H4161750, for this photograph of his Flight in February 1955.

He says "I got to B'north in Nov 1954 and began my sq.bashing but caught tonsillitis and was reflighted, passing out Feb 55. I am 5th from left on top row. I think the NCO was Cpl Reave (spelling?) and he shared the burden with Cpl Collier. Cannot help with other names and never saw any of them again."

Ken Peck 4162912 has since identified himself on this photograph. He says "I was recruited in Coventry - Jan 7th 1955. After kitting-out at RAF Cardington Bedfordshire, which is where we all first met, we went by special train to Bridgnorth.
I am located as the first man from the left, on the bottom row, (sitting cross-legged) On the left hand side - from mid to the bottom row, are the 13 colleagues of my billet (plus myself of course) who comprise my billet photo
[titled on this web site as 1955 - Jan/Feb] I can recognise several other colleagues, but have sadly lost their names except for Peter Gaffney; he was one of a group of 'Geordies' who were still together. He is located four rows up, and is 7th from the left. Peter and his colleagues befriended me at Cardington, where I had just been re-flighted, had run out of money and was very ill with bronchitis. Thence on to Bridgnorth.
We all wore yellow discs behind our cap badges. I seem to recall that denoted 'C' Flight? (There was always an A, B, C, and D Flight)"

Comment by Web Master. I have been led to believe that;
Red = 'A' squadron,   Blue = 'B' squadron,   Green = 'C' squadron,   Yellow = 'D' squadron.
