Hut 260 from Dec 1958 - Feb 1959

Thanks to Fred Bowell 5090803 for this photograph from Dec 1958 - early Feb 1959.
Fred says "I am on the right of the Corporal with the Senior Man armband.

On call up I was 24 years old and bald !!! The Corporal took one look at me, asked how old I was and said "You are Senior Man, any trouble tell me!!!"
During this period Dec/Jan. there was a terrible Flu. outbreak and the camp was almost closed. I personally was in the sick bay twice and many closed huts were reopened, to accept those with the Flu.
Unfortunately I have no record of names but the NS recruits are recognised by them wearing old style "Best Blue" as their working uniform. By this time regulars were issued with 'Barathea' B.B as it was a lot smarter."

Since this photograph was posted, Roy Durrant has kindly sent the same photograph, complete with the list of names shown below, identifying all the recruits.
Thank you Roy for donating a copy to the collection of memorabilia held at the Bridgnorth Visitor Information Centre.
