Picture from July 1960

Thanks to Stuart Cook 4259175, for this photograph from July 1960.

Stuart says "The photo above is somewhat confusing to me. It was taken in late July 1960. I am in the picture - second from the left in the back row - fair hair. I don't remember why, but it was not taken outside our own hut. The pathway outside our hut was on a slight incline and, in looking at the station plan, I'm quite sure I was in hut 60. I remember the incline very well since I was made to run up and down it when I had acute tonsillitis just to determine if I was really sick! It is strange there seems to be too many blokes to have all been in one hut and there is no hut plaque that you would normally see on these photos. I cannot quite figure it out. I was sick for 3 - 5 days and may have missed the official hut photo taken outside hut 60 with the plaque etc. There are a couple of faces I recognize but I don't remember names. The Corporal to the right of the Officer could be Cpl Nimmock but I can't be sure - he had a similar slight build but I never saw him without his hat on which covered half his face!"

Since this photograph was posted, Peter Funnell has been in contact.
Peter says "I have exactly the same photo, but it's not of a hut, but of the Flight Athletics Team. I am the tall "idiot" 3rd from right in the back row. 4th from left in the back row is "Paddy" Coote who lives in Nottingham and with whom I am still in touch. 4th from the right in the centre row is a very good friend of mine 5077506 Graham Richards, although I have lost touch completely. The little Corporal to the left of the Officer was our much beloved Drill Cpl Forward a real "piece of work". I recognise quite a few faces, but can't put a name to any. Hope this helps!!
